Salt-Free Nasal Spray: Why We Deliberately Leave Out the Saline
Formulation, Explained
Salt-Free by Design — Why Our Sprays Contain No Saline
If you're looking for a salt-free nasal spray, you've probably noticed that almost every nasal spray on the shelf is saline — salt water — by default. BioFilm Clear takes the opposite approach: every spray we make is 100% salt-free by design. Here's why, and what we use instead.

The Reason
Why most sprays are saline — and why ours isn't
Saline is cheap, familiar, and fine for simple rinsing. But salt has a downside most people never hear about: salt destabilizes colloidal silver. Our flagship spray combines EDTA and xylitol with colloidal silver (30 PPM) — and a saline base would compromise the silver the formula is built around. So instead of starting with salt water and working around it, we formulated salt-free from the beginning.
Some people also simply find frequent saline use drying or irritating, and go looking for a gentler daily-use base. That's the second reason this page exists.
Inside the Bottle
What's in it instead
Xylitol
A plant-derived sugar alcohol that gives the spray its base. Researchers have studied xylitol for its role in nasal cleansing, and it lends the spray a mild, non-stinging character suited to daily use.
EDTA
A chelating agent studied for its ability to bind the metal ions that hold biofilm structures together in the nasal passages.
Colloidal silver — your choice

Salt-free, answered
Is salt-free the same as preservative-free?
No — they're separate properties. Our sprays happen to be both: no saline base, no preservatives.
Can I use a salt-free spray daily?
That's what it's designed for — routine daily nasal hygiene, the same place a saline rinse might sit in your routine.
Does salt-free mean it stings less?
Xylitol-based sprays are generally experienced as mild. Individual experiences vary — start with one spray per nostril and see how it feels.
